Outcome of Ahmed Glaucoma Valve in Refractory Glaucoma – Our Population Analysis

Purpose: To find out the outcomes of Ahmed Glaucoma Valve (AGV) implantation in a tertiary care hospital.
 Study Design: Retrospective case series.
 Place and Duration Study: Shifa International Hospital Islamabad from January 2018 to July 2020.
 Methods: This retrospective series 19 eyes 17 patients with refractory glaucoma included who underwent AGV follow-up period 6 months 01 year. was done as primary procedure 3 secondary after previously failed trabeculectomy. All complete eye examination, before surgery then at 1 month, 2months, Goldman tonometer used check IOP. Complications, interventions number anti-glaucoma medications (in post-operative period) needed achieve target pressure were noted. Success defined an IOP less than 18 mm Hg, or without single medication.
 Results: Complete success achieved 57.9% conditional 42.2%. The most common complication encapsulated cyst formation 31.6% bleb deroofing 10.5%, tube readjustment wash 10.5% YAG vitreolysis 5.3%.
 Conclusion: is effective relatively safe irrespective initial diagnosis age patient. Encapsulated commonest complication.
